Hi Chris,

Thanks for your respectful response. There has been a huge campaign in Australia against this coal mine, including persuading all our major banks not to provide finance for it, but our government seems determined to support it with taxpayers’ money against all logic. There is a solar farm in the same area which provides many more jobs than those offered by Adani, and the tourism jobs lost when the Great Barrier Reef succumbs to rising sea temperatures (an incidental tragedy) must also be taken into account. The railway line which we blocked is only used for transporting coal to Adani’s port to be shipped out past the reef, and we resorted to this action because it is very difficult to bring attention to these issues in Australia where Murdoch press holds an incredible influence. We ensured the trains were stopped before we attached ourselves, but it is the future of our planet at stake and some things are worth a little risk.
